1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using teachwithcolin ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

teachwithcolin is an AI-powered essay grading platform. The Service allows teachers to upload student essays, have them graded by AI against a rubric, and receive feedback reports and gradebooks.

3. Account and Authentication

• You sign in using your personal Google account via OAuth.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account.
• You must not share your account access with unauthorized users.
• You can revoke the app's access to your Google account at any time.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to:

• Use the Service only for its intended purpose of grading student essays.
• Not upload content that is illegal, harmful, or violates third-party rights.
• Not attempt to circumvent security measures, rate limits, or access controls.
• Not use the Service to process data you are not authorized to handle.
• Comply with all applicable laws, including FERPA if you handle student records.

5. Content Ownership

• You retain all rights to content you upload (essays, rubrics).
• AI-generated grading feedback and reports are provided for your use and do not transfer intellectual property rights.
• We do not claim ownership of your uploaded content or generated outputs.

6. AI-Generated Content

Grading results are generated by AI (Anthropic Claude) and should be reviewed by the teacher before being used for official grading purposes. The Service is a tool to assist teachers, not a replacement for professional judgment.

• AI-generated grades and feedback may contain errors or inconsistencies.
• You are responsible for reviewing and validating all AI output before sharing with students.
• We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated grades.

7. Google Drive Access

The Service accesses your Google Drive using the drive.file scope, which means it can only access files and folders that you explicitly open with or create through the app. We cannot access other files in your Drive.

8. Service Availability

• We aim to provide reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
• We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects service access.
• We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service with reasonable notice.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to inaccurate grading results, data loss, or service interruptions.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time by revoking Google access and requesting account deletion.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
